Figs 44 View FIGURES 44 a–b, 64 e–f
Type material: Holotype: female, VIETNAM: Hai Phong Province: Cat Ba National Park, Tuyen Duung Giao Duc Moi Truung – Du Lich Sinh Thai [Forest Education Trail], 20.797179°N, 107.006982°E, 50 m, 18–23 October 2009, Jeremy Miller, Pham Dinh Sac & Dao Ngoc Hieu leg., field number CB 091021 PSLUN ( RMNH, RMNH- TZA2009101801 ).
Paratype: 1 female ( SD 1622 ) with same data as for holotype, except: field number CB 091018 JMLUN2 ( RMNH, RMNH-TZA2009101801 ) .
Etymology: The species name is derived from the Vietnamese word “thieu” meaning “missing” and referring to the absent lobal septum of the female epigyne; adjective.
Diagnosis: Females of Sinopoda thieu spec. nov. are similar to those of S. separata Zhong et al., 2017 in having separated lateral lobes. They can be distinguished from the latter species by 1. opisthosoma medially with brown triangular-shaped spot (without triangular-shaped spot in S. separata ), 2. lateral lobes running almost entirely posteriorly of epigastric furrow (covering epigastric furrow in S. separata ), 3. lobal septum absent (present in S. separata ), 4. spermathecae only fused at anterior part (fused along median line in S. separata ), 5. glandular appendages situated ventrally of spermathecae with only posterior part visible in dorsal view (entire glandular appendages visible in ventral view in S. separata ) and 6. fertilization ducts situated laterally (situated posteriorly in S. separata ).
Description: Female (holotype): Total length 12.80; prosoma 5.90 long, 5.40 wide, anterior width of prosoma 3.10; opisthosoma 6.90 long, 3.80 wide. Eye measurements: AME 0.29; ALE 0.37; PME 0.28; PLE 0.36; AME– AME 0.20; AME–ALE 0.06; PME–PME 0.32; PME–PLE 0.42; AME–PME 0.33; ALE–PLE 0.30; clypeus AME 0.43; clypeus ALE 0.45. Measurements of palp and legs [IV: missing]: palp: 9.10 (2.70, 1.40, 1.90, 3.10); I: 31.25 (8.50, 3.10, 9.30, 7.95, 2.40); II: 33.30 (9.30, 3.20, 9.80, 8.40, 2.60); III: 24.20 (7.20, 2.50, 6.80, 5.80, 1.90). Spination: palp: 131, 101, 2121, 1014; legs: Fe I–III 323; Pa I–III 101; Ti I–III 2126; Mt I–II 1014, III 2024. Cheliceral furrow with 3 anterior and 4 posterior teeth.
Colouration in ethanol: Prosoma yellowish-brown with brown dots. Sternum yellowish-white with brown margin. Opisthosoma dorsally brown with yellow spots, anterior part lighter brown, antero-medially with yellow longitudinal stripe, ventral part medially brown with yellow dots, laterally yellow. Chelicerae yellowish-brown with light brown stripes. Palps and legs yellowish-brown.
Copulatory organ as in diagnosis. Epigynal field wider than long without anterior bands and slit sensilla. Lateral lobes distinct. Epigynal pockets absent. Copulatory opening situated in posterior half. Internal duct system nearly as wide as long, running from postero-ventrally to postero-dorsally. Spermathecae horseshoe-shaped. Glandular appendages extending posteriorly in posterior half of internal duct system, distal part wide and nearly rounded. Fertilization ducts long and wide, tip narrow.
Variation: Female (paratype): Total length 12.10; prosoma 5.20 wide, anterior width of prosoma 3.00; opisthosoma 6.20 long, 3.70 wide. Measurements leg I: total length 28.90, Fe 7.90, Pa 2.70, Ti 8.60, Mt 7.30, Ta 2.40. Spination: legs: Fe I 333/323, IV 322/422; Pa IV 101; Ti II 2126 /2226, IV 2126; Mt I 1014 /2014, IV 3036. Colouration darker. Dorsal part of opisthosoma medio-anteriorly with dark brown stripe.
Male: Unknown.
Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
