Sonchus masguindalii f. bocoianus Pau in Font Quer, Iter Marocc. 1929 nº 474 (1930a), in sched., nom. nud.

= Sonchus masguindalii Pau & Font Quer

Notes:— El Oualidi et al. (2012) cite a RAB specimen as isotype. However, this name is not validly published, so the typification has no sense.

1,2,3 Spergularia diandra [unranked] maura Pau & Sennen in Sennen, Diagn. Nouv.: 184 (1936b)

= Spergula diandra (Guss.) Murb.

Ind. loc.:—“ Hab. Maroc: Metalza à Ain-Zora, escarpements, 850 m. ”

Lectotype (designated here):— Maroc: Metalza , Aïn Zora, 850 m, 27 May 1933, Sennen 8711 & Mauricio (lectotype BC-Sennen 880143! [https://www.ibb.csic.es/herbari/ JPEG / BC880143 View Materials .jpg]; isolectotypes BC 119738 !, MA 36734 !, MA 36735 !, MPU 009301 About MPU [photo!])

Notes:—The name was published as “var. an fa.”, although on the label the authors used the varietal rank. In APD (2020) it is improperly recorded as a variety of Spergula diandra ; moreover, the authorship of this species is wrongly cited as (Guss.) Boiss instead of (Guss.) Murb.

1,2 Spergularia media var. latifolia Pau in Font Quer, Iter Marocc. 1929 nº 135 (1930a), in sched.

= Spergularia embergeri P.Monnier

Ind. loc.:—“Hab. in argillosis humidis, pr. Melilla, 40 m. alt.; 7 aprilis”

Lectotype (designated here):— In argillosis humidis, pr. Melilla, 40 m, 7 April 1929, Font Quer 135-1929 (lectotype BC 98361 ! [https://www.ibb.csic.es/herbari/ JPEG / BC98361 .jpg]; isolectotypes BCN 72243 About BCN [photo!], GDA 2436 About GDA [photo!], MA 37014 !, MPU 006700 About MPU [photo!])

Note:— The GDA specimen was labelled as syntype by Vizoso in 2013 .

1 Stachys circinata f. hozmariensis Pau in Mem. Real Soc. Esp. Hist. Nat. 12: 376 (1924a)

= Stachys circinata L’Hér.

Ind. loc.:—“Beni Hozmar”

Lectotype (designated here):—Beni Hozmar, May 1921, Pau s.n. (lectotype MA 103211 !; isolectotype BC 48913 !)

1,2,3 Stachys fontqueri Pau in Mem. Real Soc. Esp. Hist. Nat. 12: 377 (1924a)

Ind. loc.:—“Yebel Dersa y Beni Hozmar; también de Beni Hozmar me la remitió M. Martínez”

Lectotype (designated here):—Beni Hozmar: Jebel Dersa, May 1921, Pau s.n. ( MA 103055 !)

Notes:— At Herb. MA there are three syntypes: two specimens collected by Pau, one from Beni Hozmar ( MA 103054 !), another from Djebel Dersa ( MA 103055 !), and one by Martínez from Djebel Dersa ( MA 103056 !). The selected lectotype is the sheet with the biggest sample .

1,2,3 Stachys officinalis var. tangerina Pau in Mem. Real Soc. Esp. Hist. Nat. 12: 376 (1924a)

= Stachys officinalis (L.) Trevis.

Ind. loc.:—“Meseta de Yebel Quebir”

Lectotype (designated here):—Jebel Kebir, 24 April 1921, Pau s.n. (lectotype MA 102905 !; isolectotype BC 48806 !)

Note:—The MA specimen was identified as S. officinalis by Morales and Pardo de Santayana in 2000, and the original determination of the BC specimen was confirmed by Sáez in 1997. According to Rejdali & Montserrat (2002), this variety is to be synonymized under S. officinalis subsp. algeriensis (de Noé) Franco , although in APD (2020) it is linked to the species. It should be noted that Morales & Pardo de Santayana (2010) consider S. officinalis a very variable species, and do not accept any infraspecific taxa.

1,2,3 Stachys peduncularis Pau View in CoL in Cavanillesia 8: 111 (1937)

= Stachys arenaria Vahl

Ind. loc.:—“Hab. in Targuist, Mauritania, ubi leg, Sennen et Mauricio, 1933”

Type:—not seen

Notes:—According to the diagnosis by Pau (1937), this species differs from S. arenaria by the long pedunculate flowers (8 mm) and the linear leaves. The specimen MA 103051!, labelled originally as S. peduncularis by Pau, matches the locotype, but the flowers are subsessile and the leaves oblanceolate. That is why Guarrigues (1979) described S. arenaria var. paui Guarr. based on such a specimen.
