Agrilus detractus Waterhouse 1889

Two specimens have been seen from BCS, 1 mi NE La Burrera, 23°30’38”N, 110°02’40”W, 500 m, on living twigs/small limbs Acacia farnesiana (L.) Willd. ( Fabaceae ), 5/ 6 X-87, R.L. Westcott, A.D. Mudge (RLWE); Ramal Los Naranjos, 20–28 km W Hwy. 1, 28-VIII-94, R.L. Turnbow (RLWE). This species is widespread, often common, in Mexico and is also known from Nicaragua.

Agrilus felix Horn 1891 (Figs. 63–64)

Horn (1894) first recorded this species from the peninsula. We have seen many specimens from the peninsula collected as far north as 8 miles SW Rumarosa, near the California border and south into BCS. Probably the majority have been collected in the Vizcaíno Desert, to as far south as 15 miles W of San Ignacio. The southernmost record for this species in Baja California is interesting: Isla San Marcos, 22-VI-52, J.P. Figg-Hoblyn (CAS). Dates of collection range from late March to late July, with the majority collected during April and May. In Baja California it has been taken on Sphaeralcea spp. ( Malvaceae ) and by beating Prosopis glandulosa var. torreyana . Elsewhere in Mexico it has been recorded only from Sonora and Chihuahua. It occurs widely in the western U.S., as far east as Colorado and Texas. Larval hosts are recorded from several plants in Chenopodiaceae and Fabaceae , and utilizing such disparate host families seems strange, although specimens reared from legumes may instead be A. hualpaii Knull. Adults have also been collected on Psorothamnus emoryi (A. Gray) Rydb. (Fabaceae) .
