Stenolophus dissimilis Dejean, 1829: 410. Type locality: «Louisiane» (original citation). Two syntypes [2 originally cited] in MHNP (Lindroth 1955b: 31).
Distribution.
This species ranges from northeastern Ohio (Purrington et al. 1999: 47) to southern Wisconsin (Rauterberg 1885: 21; Messer 2010: 40), north to Charity Island in the Michigan waters of Lake Huron (Andrews 1916: 79), south to south ern Texas (Johnson 1978: 67), northern Georgia (Fattig 1949: 54), and northwestern South Carolina (Ciegler 2000: 94). The record from New Jersey (Smith 1910: 216) needs confirmation.
