Remarks. Locally in grasslands on limestone and in the mountains, usually on Potentilla tabernaemontani (also known as P. verna or P. neumanniana , see Kurtto et al. 2004). The mines on Potentilla can easily be confused with those of the following species, S. thuringiaca and S. poterii . Old records of mines from western France are doubtful (no adults emerged, Gélin & Lucas 1915, Brown & Gouin 1917) and may belong to any of these other species. They are here excluded.
