Discussion. This common widespread species inhabits the USA from Maryland, Virginia, Illinois south to Florida and Louisiana (Borkent & Grogan 2009), Mexico (Chiapas, Yucatan) to Panama, and also in South America in Trinidad and Brazil ( Borkent & Spinelli 2000, 2007). The immature stages were recently described by Ronderos et al. (2008). The adults are readily distinguished from similar congeners by their distinctive wing pattern and other features included in our key. We provide the first records from Veracruz, Mexico.
