Comments. The species is known only from the original descrption. Caporiacco (1955) reported numerous males and females from Maiquetía and Caracas, along with additional specimens from other localities. Both sexes were illustrated. Berlandini & Whitman (2003) mentioned only two syntypes —a male and a juvenile female— deposited in Florence. It appears that most specimens, are deposited at the Museo de Biología, Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas ( Caporiacco, 1955). Based on its body shape, abdominal pattern, male palpal morphology, and especially an epigyne featuring a scape-like structure unknown in other thomisids, this species is unrelated to the generotype S. globosum ( Fabricius, 1775) . Consequently, it is very likely that the genus is entirely absent from the New World.
