= Eugenia stocksii Duthie (1879: 498) . Lectotype (designated here):— INDIA. Concan [Konkan], Stocks s.n. (K! [barcode K000260039 ]). Remaining syntype:— Beddome s.n. (n.v.).
= Syzygium travancoricum Gamble (1918: 240) View in CoL . Type :— INDIA. In swampy places in the low country of Travancore, up to 65m, March 1895, Bourdillon 540 (holotype MH; isotype K! [barcode K000821398 ]). syn. nov.
Distribution:— Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu ( Indian endemic); 125‒1300 m.
Notes:—The other syntype noted in the protologue of Eugenia stocksii, Beddome s.n. from Wynaad, has not been found. Syzygium travancoricum is conspecific with S. stocksii , as both share long petioles, elliptic leaves and highly branched inflorescences.
