Tabanus camelarius Austen, 1911 View in CoL
This species is Palearctic and Afrotropical, recorded from Palestine, Syria, and Sudan ( Austen 1920). Tabanus camelarius is closely related to Tabanus accensus , however they are different in the abdominal pattern and the frontal callus shape ( Austen 1920). According to Theodor (1965), the specimens reported by Oldroyd (1954) as T. camelarius and those as T. gratus Loew 1858 are T. accensus . Ricardo (1914)
mentioned five females, collected from Jerusalem and Syria, were deposited in the German Entomological Museum, and identified as T. camelarius .
