Distribution: E and S Utah, extreme W Colorado, and NE Arizona, USA.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Neotamias . Formerly included in quadrivittatus , but see Patterson (1984). Reviewed by Burt and Best (1994, Mammalian Species No. 460).
