CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Tephritis separata Rondani, 1871 ( Foote 1984: 133, White 1986: 156, Norrbom et al. 1999: 219).
REMARKS: Rondani (1871b: 18) described both sexes of Tephritis sejuncta without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens that he had collected and that he had also received from L. Bellardi, F.M. Piccioli and A. Costa. Bernard Merz examined the MZUF type material in 1992, adding the label “ lectotype ” under one female, without, as far as we know, publishing any lectotype designation. We found 13 syntypes in this study .
