Terelliosoma heryngii Rondani, 1856 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1856: 109.
TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but presumably it is Italy because the work deals with Italian species .
TYPE MATERIAL: not found in this study.
CURRENT STATUS: nomen nudum ( Soós 1984c: 59); valid name ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 177).
REMARKS: Rondani’s (1856: 109) key for the genus Terelliosoma Rondani, 1856 lists Terelliosoma heryngii as its type species, but he did not provide a detailed description, type locality, number or sex of the specimens. Rondani attributed the species name to P.J.M. Macquart. Rondani (1869a: 16) considered Terelliosoma heryngii as a junior synonym of Tetanops impunctata Loew, 1854 . We were unable to locate any type material of this nominal species in our study. The MZUF did not contain any specimen named Terelliosoma heryngii but, under the name Terelliosoma impunctata , there are ten specimens (all non-types): three males, two females and five specimens (sex undetermined). We leave the study of these latter specimens to a future specialist for the recognition of the type series of Terelliosoma heryngii Rondani, 1856 .
