Thienemanniella ogasaquindecima Sasa et Suzuki View in CoL

( Figs 11 View FIGURES 11 A–B)

Thienemanniella ogasaquindecima Sasa et Suzuki, 1997: 338 View in CoL ; Yamamoto 2004: 104.

Material examined. JAPAN: Tokyo Metropolis, Bonin Islands, Chichijima Island and Kitamura, Shigure Dam, sweeping, holotype male, 16.iv.1996, H. Suzuki (No. 307: 67).

Diagnostic characters. The species differs from other East Asian members of the genus by having an antenna with 13 flagellomeres, AR 0.27, palpomere 5/ 3: 3.25; inferior volsella big triangular; transverse sternapodeme narrow, without oral projection.

Emended description. Antenna with 13 flagellomeres in place of original 11 flagellomeres; AR 0.27 in place of AR 0.24. Other character are consistent with the original description, but some additional characters should be added: Palpomeres length (in µm): 20; 30; 40; 65; 97.5. Palpomere 2 ellipsoid, 3 and 4 rectangular, 5 long and slender, Palpomere 5/ 3: 3.25. Superior volsella indistinct in the holotype. Inferior volsella adpressed to inner margin of gonocoxite. Transverse sternapodeme 45 µm long without oral projection; Phallapodeme little curved. Gonocoxite 115 µm long with more than 7 long and strong setae. Gonostylus straight and slender, 60 µm long. HR 1.9, HV 2.4. The hypopygium of the holotype is redrawn in Figs 11 View FIGURES 11 A– B.

Distribution. Japan

Remarks. This species is unique in Thienemanniella with gonocoxite bearing many long setae along the outer margin instead of only one in typical Thienemanniella species; gonostylus relatively long and slender; sternapodeme not very strongly sclerotized, lateral sternapodeme and phallapodeme without attachment point; the wing of the holotype is damaged.
