Male characters. Femur armament: all femora with an apical spine.—Tibia armament: [2.6.1][7.7.1][9–11.6.4], last ventral spine of hindtibia very close to the apical whorl.—Left phallomere: near the left base of the L2 arch with a fingerlike process (pda), near the right base of the L2 arch with the L1 sclerite in an, as compared to Tivia , primitive state with two cushionlike evaginations (pca), R1M sclerite in cross-section almost cylindrical, R2 apart for the denticulate structure with a conical process with smooth surface, Fig. 22A .—Supraanal plate: rounded trapezoidal, by a short emargination in the middle of the posterior border bilobed.—Cercal tricholiths: 2 per anulus, Fig. 18B .

(G) Bo 511; (H) Bo 544, Holotype of T. oscillum, a synonym of T. fratercula.—Explanations:In the species of the genus Tivia both, L1 and pda are differentiated to strongly sclerotised, partly very long hooklike processes; R1M forms a flat lobe. Left phallomere with sclerites L1, L2 arch, L4M, processes pda and hook (= hla, part of the L3 sclerite), right phallomere with sclerites R1M, R2 with a mostly denticulate surface, and R3. The designation of the various parts of the phallomeres is mainly based on the study of embedded material for taxonomic purposes. It has, therefore, to be considered as preliminary and needs confirmation by a thorough three-dimensional analysis.—Enlargements: Scale 0.25 mm.
