Description. Body length: 480–550 Μm (lectotype: 520 Μm); maximum body width: 240–300 Μm (lectotype: 270 Μm). Colour: light-brown.

Prodorsum ( Figs. 1–6 View FIGURES 1 – 4 View FIGURES 5 – 7 ). Integument porose. Rostrum rounded. All prodorsal setae smooth and pointed. Rostral setae 80 Μm, lamellar setae 70 Μm, interlamellar setae 90 Μm long. Sensilli about 50Μm long with distal ovate head with delicate spines distally ( Figs. 1–6 View FIGURES 1 – 4 View FIGURES 5 – 7 ).

Notogaster ( Figs. 1, 3 View FIGURES 1 – 4 , 5, 7 View FIGURES 5 – 7 ). Integument slightly granulated, surface with reticulate sculpture. All notogastral setae smooth, thin and pointed; anterior shorter than posterior. Length of setae: c1 12 Μm, c3 20 Μm, e1 35 Μm, h1 45 Μm. Vestigial alveoli of setae f1 situated anteriorly to insertions of setae h1 (distance h1–h1 approximately equal to f1–f1).

Ventral region ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 5 – 7 ). Anal and genital shields similar in length. Genital plates each with 8 pairs of setae; narrow anal plate with one seta, adanal plate with three setae. All ventral setae smooth. Material examined. Type material, Germany: two slides from the C. Willmann’s collection (Zoologische Staattsammlung Münich, Germany):

(1) Lectotype: ZSM 20044053. Slide labelled: “ Camisia Trhypochthonius cladonicola Willm. Prp. 330. Det. C. Willmann, 2. 5. 15. Katenbäker. Heide. (Wildeshausen)”; one specimen.

(2) Paralectotype: ZSM 20044054, slide labelled “ Camisia Trhypochthonius cladonicola Willm. Prp. 329. Det. C. Willmann, 2. 5. 15. Katenbäker. Heide. (Wildeshausen)”; one specimen.

Comparative material: Germany: one slide from the C. Willmann’s collection (Zoologische Staattsammlung Münich, Germany), ZSM 20044055, slide labelled “ Trhypochthonius cladonicola (Willm) ?. Det. C Willmann, Göldenitzer Moor. Mecklenburg.”, 13 specimens (slide dry, all specimens damaged in poor condition); Canada: Can. Nat. Collection., Nova Scotia Cape Breton H., N.P. Mica Mt. Trail, 7.09.1983, barrens, ex. lichen, Ledum , shrub Abies and Vaccinium , litter in moist hollow, coll. V. Behan [VB 118–83].

Remarks. The ventral region was described on the basis of the comparative material from Canada. The lectotype and other specimens in C. Willmann’s collection are preserved as permanent slides which makes observation of ventral characters with sufficient precision difficult.
