Misidentifications: Trifurcula immundella ; Lhomme [1963]: 1209— 40, 50

Material. 17: 1♀, RoncelesBains, 8.ix.1921, Lhomme [as Nepticula cryptella ]; 46 : 1♂, La Bastide Murat, Lhomme ( MNHN); 63 : 1♀, Besse: route de Champeix [BesseenChandesse], 17.viii.1945, RB ; 1♂, Montcineyre, 11.viii.1945, RB ( RB) .

Remarks. Trifurcula squamatella is a local species, associated with common broom, Cytisus scoparius . Its feeding habit is unknown, but it possibly feeds inside the stems in a fashion similar to the recently described and related T. trasaghica A. & Z. Laštůvka, 2005 from Italy (Laštůvka & Laštůvka 2005a).
