IRIDOPLECTA WARREN

Iridoplecta Warren, 1899 . Type species: Trygodes ferrifera Moore, 1888 . India.

Comments. This S.E. Asian genus was placed in the Macariini by Holloway ([1994]), but it is excluded in the present work. The only character to suggest that Iridoplecta might be a macariine is the deeply divided valva. But a deeply divided valva also occurs in Eutoeini and other groups, such as primitive Cassymini , and there seems no reason to include Iridoplecta in Macariini if Eutoeini are excluded. The chaetosemata are not extended and uncus horns are absent. The costa and sacculus of the valva of Iridoplecta do not strongly resemble the shapes of these occurring typically in Macariini .
