Distribution. Hyrcanian parts of NW Iran and adjacent Azerbaijan ( Golovatch, 1981, 1989), Rhodes ( Thaler, 2000), Cyprus ( Thaler, 1987, 2000; present study).

T. martensi was originally described from northwestern Iran ( Golovatch, 1981), later reported also from the adjacent parts of Azerbaijan ( Golovatch, 1989). The considerable distance between Hyrcania and Cyprus was the reason for Golovatch et al. (2004) to question Thaler’s (1987, 2000) reports from the island. The presence of this species in Cyprus is, however, confirmed by the numerous new samples.
