[Enderlein’s solitary male specimen of U. pigmentaria has never been located. Whilst this check list was in preparation, three males were collected in Ecuador (BMNH) that are clearly congeners of U. pigmentaria . These have indicated that Udamoselis is a valid genus for some exceptionally large species, which are not otherwise fundamentally different from other members of the Aleurodicinae . They have been discussed in detail and described as U. estrellamarinae ( Martin, 2007) but, in the continuing absence of puparia whose characters might shed further light on this intriguing genus, the subfamily Udamoselinae is retained here for Udamoselis alone. Udamoselis and U. pigmentaria are, however, no longer regarded as nomina dubia .
