Type locality. Parua.

Broun number: 571.

Type material examined. 1 ex. Holotype (NHM): card-mounted, “571”, “Parua” [in Broun’s hand], “New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “ Veronatus \ capito .” [in Broun’s hand], “ Cyphanus sp. \ det. T. Nyholm 1977.” [in Nyholm’s hand].

Remarks. Broun (1880) described this species from a single specimen collected from Parua. Broun (1880) noted that the species resembles Cyphanus and is allied to Veronatus longicornis .
