Record as epibiont on cnidarians: The species was described attached to hydroids from the White Sea, Russia ( Kahl 1935).
Record as epibiont on other hosts: The species was also found on algae from the same locality ( Kahl 1935).
Remarks: Warren (1986) mentioned the name Vorticella colorata Mereschkowsky, 1877 as nomen dubium. Hence, it is not clear actually what species of genus Vorticella was found on hydroids and algae from the White Sea.
