Type material. Holotype. Male, W. Sulawesi, 25 km E of Mamasa (Kalama), 1100 m, 119.28.39E 3.02.10S, 1.–3. July 2001, Bolm lgt. ( LMBC) . Paratypes. 1 male, ditto ; 2 males, W. Sulawesi, 8 km W of Mamasa (Nepe), 950 m, 119.20.32E 2.56.13S, 29.–31. June 2001, Bolm lgt. ( LMBC) .
Differential diagnosis. W. linearis sp. nov. belongs to a group of species with the uniformly black body, elytra and pronotum. The similarly large eyes has only W. kalamensis , which differs in the shape of male genitalia (Figs 11–12).
Description. Body medium-sized, dark brown to black, densely grayish pubescent, only margins of pronotum lighter brown. Head small, partly hidden by pronotum, eyes large, hemispherically prominent, maximum eye diameter 1.61 times interocular distance. Antennae compressed, antennomeres 3–11 parallelsided to slightly serrate, antennomere 3 2.7 times longer than maximum width, apical antennomeres apparently slenderer. Pronotum flat, with brown margin, 1.38 times wider than long at midline, carinae well developed, disc shining, covered with dense light colored pubescence. Elytra parallel-sided, 3.66 times longer than width at humeri. Phallus slender, symmetrical, only slightly slenderer in middle part (Figs 11–12).
Measurements. BL 6.81 mm, HW 1.50 mm, PL 0.80 mm, PW 1.10 mm, EL 5.50 mm, Ediam 0.53 mm, Edist 0.33 mm.
Distribution. Sulawesi, the Mamasa valley.
Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the parallel-sided, slender shape of the body.
