( Figures 32 View FIGURE 32 and 66B View FIGURE 66 )
Xenorthrius incarinipes Miyatake 1965: 163 .
Unfortunately no type material was available for Xenorthrius incarinipes . The material from EUMJ was determined by the author (M. Miyatake) of the species.
Specimens examined: Taiwan: (Formosa), Tattaka, June 1, 1965, T. Shirozu; Formosa 1965, T. Shirozu leg., Xenorthrius incarinipes , ♂, Jun 1 1965, Tattaka; Xenorthrius incarinipes, Miyatake , det. M. Miyatake 1968 (EUMJ). (Taiwan), Sungkang, Meifeng (2044-2127), Nantow Co., 18.V.1969, S.Hisamatsu; Xenorthrius incarinipes, Miyatake, 1965 (2ex., EUMJ). Meifeng, Nantou Taiwan, 9. VII. 1984, K. Sakai leg (RGCM). Wulin Farm, 1800–1950m, Taichung, Taiwan, 30. V. 2007, N. Kobayashi leg (KSCT).
Measurements: (5 specimens measured) Average total length: 9.1mm, range: 7.9–9.9mm, average elytral length: 6.4mm, average elytral width: 2.5mm, average pronotal length: 1.7mm, average pronotal width: 1.7mm, average head width: 1.7mm.
Head: Red-brown, cranium densely vested with shorter and longer setae, with weak punctation, interstices larger than diameter of punctures; posterior part of clypeus red-brown, anterior margin concave, posterior margin strongly convex, with large punctation and a few long setae laterally, smooth centrally; ventral part smooth, except wrinkles behind the eyes; antennae red-brown, A4 longer than A3, antennomeres gradually decreasing in length from A4 towards A8, A9 to A11 forming a distinct club, male A11 reaching beyond pronotal base when antennae laid back; gular sutures diverging apically, gular process broad.
Thorax: Average pronotal length:width ratio 1.0:1; pronotum red-brown, vested with short yellowish setae, with some longer laterally positioned setae, pronotal arch narrow, small but distinct punctation, interstices smaller than diameter of punctures, punctation on pronotum proper larger, interstices smaller than diameter of punctures; prosternum light red-brown with microsculpture; mesosternum red-brown, margins darkened, vested with yellowish setae, elevated behind anterior mesosternal process, metasternum red-brown, vested with fine setae, punctation sparse; scutellum oval, uniformly brown.
Elytra: Average length:width ratio 2.6:1; coloration uniformly brown, vested with short erect setae, punctation small, striae 1 and 2 often indistinct behind humeral region, other striae present on entire surface, interstices between striae about three times as long as diameter of punctures, interstices within striae maximum one diameter of punctures, punctation never rasp-like, carination absent.
Legs: Red-brown, tarsal pulvilli pale; metatibiae more or less straight, tibiae not carinated.
Abdomen: Ventrites red-brown, with distinct punctation, interstices larger than diameter of punctures; male pygidium broadest basally, lateral margins converging apically; male ventrite 6 with distinct U-shaped emargination. Male genitalia ( Fig. 32 View FIGURE 32 ): Outer margins of tegmen rounded apically, sinus narrowly and deeply V-shaped; phallic plates dilated asymmetric apically; spicular fork dividing into two branches after one third of length.
Distribution: Taiwan.
Seasonal occurrence: Collecting from May to July.
