Zygophiala cylindrica G.Y. Sun, H.Y. Li & R. Zhang, Mycological Progress View in CoL 9: 250, 2010 ( Figs. 5 View FIGURE 5 , 6 View FIGURE 6 ).

Specimens examined: — MONTENEGRO. Berane, from apple fruit ( Malus ×domestica ), Sep. 2013, G.Y. Sun & J. Latinović, dried culture HMAS 245581(= culture ZMHS23). Berane, from apple fruit ( Malus ×domestica ), Sep. 2013, G.Y. Sun & J. Latinović, culture ZMHS8. Berane, from apple fruit, Sep. 2013, G.Y. Sun & J. Latinović, dried culture ZMHS33. Berane, from apple fruit, Sep. 2013, G.Y. Sun & J. Latinović, dried culture ZMHS53.

Colonies of ZMHS23 on the cuticle of apples consisting of shiny, black, round or oval sclerotium-like bodies without visible mycelium mat; hyphae hyaline, 1.5–2.5 μm wide on PDA; colony grey to white with irregular margin, reaching 12–22 mm and center corrugated, slightly mounded with small dark droplets in the center on PDA after one month. Conidiophores arising from superficial hyphae, erect, scattered, 3-septate, subcylindrical, flexuous, (13–)18–29(– 33) × (3–)5–9(–11) μm (from basal septum to below phialide), consisting of a hyaline to subhyaline, transluscent supporting cell that gives rise to a smooth, dark brown cell, terminating in a finely verruculose, medium brown, apical cell, (2–)3–7(–10) × (2–)4–6(–9) μm from which arise two conidiogenous cells. Conidiogenous cells medium brown, finely verruculose, doliiform to elipsoidal or subcylindrical, polyblastic, (3–)5–8(–21) × 4(–6)–7(–9) μm, with the scars darkened, thickened, prominent, apical and lateral, somewhat refractive, 2–3 μm wide. Conidia solitary, obclavate, oval to elongated subcylindrical, subhyaline to hyaline, smooth, thick-walled, (0–)1(–2)-septate; 0-septate, (9–)13–18(–22) × (3–)5–10(–13) μm, 1-septate, (14–)18–35(–46) × (4–)5–11(–14) μm, constricted at the septa; apex obtuse, base subtruncate, with a darkened, thickened hilum, 2–3 μm wide.

Notes: —Shape and range of size of conidia, conidiophores, apical cells and conidiogenous cells of ZMHS23 coincide with those of Z. cylindrica ( Li et al. 2010) . Furthermore, the ITS tree clustered isolates ZMHS23, ZMHS8, ZMHS53 and ZMHS33 with ITS sequences of Z. cylindrica (LHYLX3, LHYYC9) downloaded from GenBank with high support.
