Amblycerus taeniopygus Ribeiro-Costa, 1999c: 236–237 (desc., distr., gen., type); Ribeiro-Costa et al. 2018 (cat., distr., host).

Type examined. Holotype deposited in CNCI, male, with labels: 10 [blue label with red borders and black writing]; Brazil, Cuyaba\ Matto Grosso; L. J. Bottimer \ Collection\ Nº. 61C; CNC; HOLÓTIPO [red label and black writing]\ Amblycerus taeniopygus \ Ribeiro-Costa, 1999.

Measurements. BL: 7.9 mm; BW: 4.1 mm.

Diagnosis ( Figs 26 View FIGURES 22–27 , 69, 95, 101). Amblycerus taeniopygus is characterized by the internal sac of male genitalia without sclerites in the apical region ( Figs 95 View FIGURES 91–96 , 101 View FIGURES 97–102 ), median region with a pair of blades with denticulate, round structure and without unpaired sclerite. Amblycerus taeniopygus can be separated from A. insuturatus and A. goianiensis Santos & Ribeiro-Costa , sp. n. by the internal sac of male genitalia at apical region without a pair of sclerite (present in A. insuturatus and A. goianiensis Santos & Ribeiro-Costa , sp. n.).

Life History. No information was found in the literature on this species.
