Synonym : Anchusa officinalis var. ochroleuca Boissier (1875: 152) View in CoL . Type :― F. Y. R. MACEDONIA. Prope Bitolia, 16 July 1862, Orphanides 136 (holotype G-Boiss.) .

Misapplied name: Anchusa ochroleuca sensu Grisebach (1844: 98) , non Bieberstein (1808: 125).

Plants caespitose with a rosette of basal leaves withered at anthesis. Basal leaves narrowly oblanceolate, obtuse or subacute, slightly undulate at margins. Cauline leaves linear to elliptic-lanceolate. Indumentum of simple spreading hairs up to 2.2 mm long, which are often tuberculate-bulbose at base on basal leaves. Cymes with single flower inserted at the branching points, branches elongating and lax in fruit. Calyx usually divided to half, distinctly pedicellate in fruit. Corolla creamy white, turning pale yellow when dry. Nutlets rugosetuberculate, reticulately-ridged and with thick basal ring.
