Diagnosis

Forewing length 5.5–9.0 mm. This species is similar to A. sculpta in facies and male genitalia, but can be distinguished from it by the forewing with the semiovoid basal patch ( Figure 6 View Figures 1–6 ), the sacculus with a sharp projection, the cucullus about 3/5 the length of the valva in the male genitalia ( Figure 31 View Figures 26–31 ), and the subscalariform sterigma in the female genitalia ( Figure 53 View Figures 49–54 ). In A. sculpta , the basal patch is triangular on the forewing; the sacculus has an obtuse projection; the cucullus is about 1/3 the length of the valva; and the sterigma is heart-shaped.

Hostplants

Salicaceae View in CoL : Salix aurita , S. cinerea , S. repens ( Bradley 1979) View in CoL .

Diagnosis

Forewing length 8.0–8.5 mm. This species is similar to A. repandana in facies and male genitalia, but can be distinguished from it by the forewing lacking a deeply emarginated, longitudinal streak in the middle of the cell ( Figure 7 View Figures 7–12 ), and the cucullus about 2/5 the length of the valva ( Figure 32 View Figures 32–37 ). In A. repandana , the forewing has a deeply emarginated, longitudinal streak in the middle of the cell, and the cucullus is about 1/3 the length of the valva. The female genitalia are characterized by the papilla analis as long as the apophysis posterioris, the inverse-scalariform sterigma, and the two same-sized signa ( Figure 54 View Figures 49–54 ).
