Aprionus magnussoni View in CoL sp. n.

( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 A)

Diagnosis. Within the smirnovi group of species (see A. karlssonorum and A. lindgrenae ), Aprionus magnussoni belongs to the subset of species with spine-bearing gonostyli (↓). A gonostylus structure very similar to that in A. magnussoni is found in A. angeloides Jaschhof (Jaschhof 1998 : fig. 148), A. laevis Mohrig ( Jaschhof 1998: fig. 153) and Aprionus latens Mamaev & Berest ( Jaschhof 1998: fig. 154). From these and other species of the smirnovi group our new species is distinguished by the ventral plate whose posterior margin is shaped like a spout and reinforced by sclerotization (↓), and whose anterior margin has a sclerotized incision shaped like an inverted U or V (↓).

Other male characters. Body size 1.2 mm. Head. Eye bridge 2–3 ommatidia long. Postocular bristles about 7, in 1 sparse row. Neck of fourth flagellomere clearly longer than node; node with 1 complete and 3 incomplete crenulate whorls of sensory hairs, 4 hair-shaped translucent sensilla distally, either thick hair-shaped or bifurcate. Maxillary palpus with 3–4 segments; first segment with hair-shaped translucent sensilla. Wing. Apical portion of R1 3 times as long as Rs. Legs. Claws evenly, slightly curved, with about 3 tiny teeth. Terminalia ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 A). Ninth tergite short, with concave, strongly reinforced anterior margin. Gonocoxa rounded ventroapically. Gonostylus strongly tapered toward apex, somewhat flattened, with 2 subapical bristles. Tegmen widest at mid-length, slightly tapered toward apex, blunt-ended.

Etymology. This species is named after Pelle Magnusson, Påboda, Småland.

Types. Holotype. Male (CEC91), Sweden, Halland, Laholm, Mästocka heathland, 15 June–9 July 2004, Malaise trap, Swedish Malaise Trap Project (trap 34, collecting event 1092) (in NHRS). Paratypes. 6 males (CEC85–90), same data as the holotype.

Porricondylinae . The subfamily Porricondylinae contains 3 tribes, 71 genera, and 460 species, of which all tribes, 42 genera, and 166 species are present in Sweden. New species described in the present paper belong to the genera Asynapta Loew (World, 44 species; Sweden, 11 species), Dicerura Kieffer (World, 29 species; Sweden, 10 species), Monepidosis Mamaev (World, 14 species; Sweden 5 species), and Tetraneuromyia Mamaev (World, 8 species; Sweden, 6 species). New species of Porricondylinae continue to be found everywhere in Europe, even if this continent may be regarded as the best-surveyed for the subfamily.
