TYPE DEPOSITORY: National Museum, Dublin, Ireland.

TYPE LOCALITY AND HABITAT: Croaghmore Mountain, Clare Island, Ireland, in sphagnum moss (Plantae: Sphagnaceae ).

NOTES: (a) Bernhard (1963: 128) and Bregetova (1977a: 208) suspected this species to be a senior synonym of Lasioseius insularis Willmann ; (b) Specimens identified as L. (A.) minutus by Bernhard (1963: 128) were reidentified as Lasioseius insularis Willmann by Karg (1973: 337); (c) Bernhard (1963: 128) and Karg (1993: 279) considered S. minutus to be a senior synonym of Lasioseius (Lasioseius) pulvisculus Berlese. We adopted the interpretation of Gwiazdowicz (2008: 100) and Gwiazdowicz & Halliday (2008: 47), considering them to be distinct species.
