Brundiniella glabrata View in CoL n. sp.

(Figs. 6, 7)

Etymology: The name of this species refers to “glabrous”, for the absence of tufts of setae at the apex of the gonostyli.

Diagnosis: Body 1.8 mm long; 14 th flagellomere with subapical setae; palp segment 3 cylindrical; preepisternal stetae absent; scutal tubercle absent; claws of middle legs not cusp shaped; few long setae on outer surface of gonocoxites; absence of short strong setae on outer margin of gonocoxites; no tuft of setae at apex of gonostylus.

Description: Head deformed, 0.3 mm long; ocelli absent; antenna 1 mm long, much longer than head, distinctly hairy, with 14 flagellomeres, all covered with long setae (shortest 0.01 mm long, longest 0.37 mm long), pedicel broad and short, rounded, 13 th flagellomere longest, 0.41 mm long; 14 th flagellomere with apical nipple and with subapical setae; eye bare but deformed, with apically expanded dorsomedial extension; mouthparts lacking functional mandibles; all palpomeres with numerous setae, palp segment 3 cylindrical; postocular, outer and inner vertical setae present; frontal setae not visible. Thorax 0.67 mm long, 0.61 mm high; postnotum not visible; surface of scutellum with numerous long setae; scutal tubercle not visible, probably absent; numerous prealars and supraalar setae not visible; numerous anterior acrostichals and dorsocentrals; postanepisternal and preepisternal setae absent. Wing macropterous, 1.16 mm long, 0.34 mm wide, hyaline, densely covered with macrotrichia; anal vein An 2 absent; radius with 3 branches R 1, R 2+3, and R 4+5; R 2+3 apically forked into R 2 and R 3; R 2 ending in R 1, R 3 ending in costa; costa ending just beyond insertion of last branch of radius, produced by 0.06 mm, more than crossvein RM, ending almost at M; only M and M 3+4 present; crossvein MCu present; cubital fork proximal to and beyond crossvein MCu, crossvein RM 0.03 mm proximal to MCu, squama fringed. Halter 0.16 mm long. Fore femur 0.6 mm long, tibia 0.6 mm long, tarsus 1.04 mm long; mid femur 0.55 mm long, tibia 0.52 mm long, tarsus 0.92 mm long, hind femur 0.47 mm long, tibia 0.54 mm long, tarsus 1.1 mm long; all tibial spurs with lateral teeth, comblike, those of hind legs not flattened, 2 tibial spurs on hind leg; 4 th tarsomeres of all legs cylindrical, not cordiform; hind tibial comb of 1 row, pulvilli present. Abdomen 1.3 mm long, 0.2 mm wide; gonostylus not visible; gonocoxite 0.06 mm long, covered by few long setae on outer surface; anal point not visible, volsella not visible, probably absent.

Discussion: This fossil falls in the genus Brundiniella for the reasons stated above (see discussion for B. soumyia ). The body of Brundiniella glabrata n. sp., 1.8 mm long, is distinctly shorter than that of Brundiniella soumyia , 3.62 mm long. The gonostylus is not clearly visible but is distinctly different from that of Brundiniella patriciae , i.e., without a tuft of setae at its apex. For these reasons, we establish a new species.
