Chaeridiona cupreovirida Gressitt 1950: 77 View in CoL [Holotype: Fukien, S. China, Chungan, ShaKuaTan, VI-3-1942 T. C. Maa/ Holotype Chaeridiona cupreovirida J. L. Gressitt View in CoL (red label) (ICRI); paratype with same label data as holotype (BPBM)]. Uhmann 1958: 251 (catalog); Gressitt & Kimoto 1963: 911 ( China species); Chen et al. 1986: 604 ( China species).

Head, pronotal disc, and elytral disc shiny metallic golden green, reddish at sides; elytra testaceous apically on explanate margins except exterior angle which is bronzy and apical margin which is yellowish; antennae reddish, apical four antennomeres darker; venter reddish, mesosternum and basal abdominal sterna darker. Head: wedge-shaped; acutely produced between antennal bases; carinate medially; vertex deeply, densely punctate. Antenna: 2x length of head and pronotum combined; slightly thickened apically; antennomere I nearly as wide as long; II subequal in length to VI or VII; remainder longer; I–VII punctate, VIII–XI setose; XI pointed at apex. Pronotum: wider than long; transverse; slightly wider at base than apex; lateral margin slightly sinuate; disc coarsely reticulate punctate; anterior angle with acute tooth; pronotal width 0.7 mm; pronotal length 0.9 mm. Scutellum: minute; longer than wide. Elytron: lateral margin distinctly expanding apically; exterior apical angle distinctly angulate; with 10 rows of deep close punctures plus short scutellar row; alternate interspaces raised, interspace 7 carinate from humerus to behind middle, 6 interrupted in middle; apical margin distinctly flattened; elytral width 1.75–1.8 mm; elytral length 2.9 mm. Venter: shiny, impunctate except for lateral margin of prosternum and metasternum. Total length: 3.75–3.9 mm.

Comparative notes. This species is similar to C. metallica but is more coppery dorsally; the pronotum is more sinuate laterally, with only one tooth in anterior angle; the elytra is less rounded in the exterior apical angle, is more transverse apically, and has the costa on interspace 2 complete, costa on interspace 3 interrupted in middle, and costa on interspace 7 carinate to behind middle.

Food plants. Unknown.

Distribution. China- Fukien; Chungan District (Kuatun).

Specimens examined. China: Fukien : Chungan, ShaKuaTun, VI-3-1942, T. C. Maa ( BPBM, 1). Total: 1 .

Comments. Gressitt (1950) stated that a paratype was deposited in the CASC. This specimen could not be located (Schweikert per. com.) .
