Coptodera festiva Dejean, 1825: 274. Type locality: «île de Cuba" (original citation). Holotype [by monotypy; designated lectotype by Shpeley and Ball (1994: 82)] (♂) in MHNP.

Coptodera chloris Bates, 1883a: 182. Type locality: "Mirador [Veracruz], Mexico" (original citation). Lectotype (♂), designated by Shpeley and Ball (1994: 82), in BMNH. Synonymy established by Shpeley and Ball (1994: 82).

Distribution.

This species occurs in southern Florida, the West Indies, and from Mexico (as far north as San Luis Potosí) to Brazil [see Shpeley and Ball 1994: map 12].
