Basionym : Cleisostoma dawsonianum Rchb. View in CoL f., Gard. Chron. 1868: 815, 1868. Type :— MYANMAR. Mon State : Mawlamyine District, 1868, cult. Dawson s.n. (holotype: W-R 48507 ) .

Homotypic synonyms: Sarothrochilus dawsonianus View in CoL (Rchb.f.) Schltr., Repert. Spec. Nov. Regni Veg. 3: 50, 1906. Staurochilus dawsonianus View in CoL (Rchb.f.) Schltr., Orchideen Beschreib. Kult. Zücht.: 577, 1914.

Specimens examined:— SAGAING. Katha District : 120 m, Unwin 13555 ( K) . SHAN. Kyaukme District : 915 m, 18 Jun 1927, Parkinson 6154 ( K) . MON. Mawlamyine District : type; same loc., Parish 163 & 179 ( K, W-R 26230 ) ; same loc., 1864, Parish s.n. (icon. W-R) . Also reported from Tanintharyi Region by Kress et al. (2003: 89), but we have not seen material from this area.

Distribution:— Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and southwestern China.

Note:— Sheet W-R 26230 has Parish drawing numbers 163 and 179 on it, but it is unknown with which number the drawing is associated.
