Dissomphalus paulus Mugrabi & Azevedo , sp. nov.

( Figs 73–75 View FIGURES 69–83 , 119 View FIGURES 119–127 , 204–206 View FIGURES 202–209 )

Description. MALE. Body length 1.75 mm. LFW 1.25 mm. Maximum wing width 0.57 mm. Color. Head black; mesosoma dark castaneous; metasoma castaneous.

Head. Mandible with two apical teeth. Clypeus with median lobe ill-defined; with one tooth, median tooth rounded; median carina absent. Ratio of first four antennal segments about 10:5:2:3. Frons strongly coriaceous, punctures large. LH 1.11 × WH, WF 0.69 × WH, WF 0.7 × HE, OOL 1.11 × WOT, DAO 0.33 × WOT, posterior ocelli distant from vertex crest 0.33 × DAO, frontal angle of ocellar triangle right, VOL 0.71 × HE. Vertex crest weakly convex. Occipital carina not visible in dorsal view.

Mesosoma. Pronotal disc weakly coriaceous, anterior margin ecarinate. Notauli shallow, incomplete, not reaching posterior margin of mesoscutum, widening posterad, converging posterad. Propodeal disc 0.66 × as long as wide; basal triangle areolate-rugose, posterolateral area weakly coriaceous; median carina posteriorly incomplete; lateral margins straight, converging posterad; posterior carina indistinguishable from texture, medially sinuous. Lateral of propodeum mostly imbricate. Propodeal declivity mostly imbricate.

Metasoma. Tergal process with deep, longitudinally elliptical and sublateral pair of depressions; depressions 0.83 × as long as tergite II, parallel, distant each other 1.6 × maximum transverse diameter; small pair of tubercles placed on laterointernal area of depression, evenly wide in longitudinal section, low, entirely dorsad, without pit on top ( Figs 73–75 View FIGURES 69–83 ). Hypopygium with median stalk 0.61 × as long as hypopygeal plate; median stalk narrow; corner of anterior margin angular; lateral stalk of hypopygium 0.27 × as long as median stalk; posterior margin concave; corner rounded ( Fig. 119 View FIGURES 119–127 ).

Genitalia ( Figs 204–206 View FIGURES 202–209 ). Genital ring slightly produced, each half convex in dorsal view. Basiparamere with dorsal surface wider apicad, as narrow as ventral surface. Paramere with basal area wider than basiparamere apex; apex subangulate; apical margin weakly concave in ventral view, not curved. Basivolsella glabrous. Aedeagus 3.33 × as long as wide; dorsal body of aedeagus evenly narrow, narrowing progressively apicad, lateral margin straight, converging apicad, not curved dorsad, apex with one pair of outer lobe; base of dorsal body of aedeagus weakly sclerotized, strongly concave, with median region truncate; ventral ramus of aedeagus surpassing half length of dorsal body, not reaching base of apical lobe of dorsal body, lateral margin of ventral ramus sinuous, wider medially and base as narrow as apex. Apodeme extending beyond genital ring.

FEMALE unknown.

Variations. Body length between 1.25 and 1.86 mm; LFW between 1.14 and 1.25 mm; maximum wing width between 0.50 and 0.61 mm; depression of tergal process touching posterior margins of tergites I and II.

Remarks. However, D. paulus sp. nov. is similar to D. hetus sp. nov. because of the following characteristics: hypopygium about 2.00 × as wide as long, median stalk short with rounded apex, posterior margin strongly concave with rounded corners, which are more projected than median region; genital ring slightly convex, median region with inclination angle about 45º; aedeagal dorsal body rectangular with margins converging apicad, apical constriction weak, ventral surface of dorsal body with long and very thick seta; paramere almost as long as basiparamere. However, D. paulus sp. nov. differs as follows: depressions of tergal process transversely elliptical and deep, touching posterior margin of tergite I and almost touching posterior margin of tergite II, distant each other 1.60 × their maximum transverse diameter, with tubercles; genital ring sinuous; basiparamere with dorsal surface almost as large as ventral surface; paramere with ventral surface undivided, apical margin slightly concave in ventral view; aedeagal ventral ramus with very narrow base and widening abruptly apicad, longer than half length of dorsal body, apex with three pairs of long projections.
