Distribution: NY to FL to western TX to southern MN. It has been collected in all but the Central Appalachians ecoregion of eastern Kentucky and the tiny Mississippi Alluvial Plain in the extreme westernmost counties (Map 046).

Larval host plants: Heartwoods of Carya glabra , Castanea , Fagus americana , Fraxinus americana , Gleditsia tricanthos , Prunus , Quercus , Robinia and Ulmus ( Linsley & Chemsak 1997)

Comments: This common and widespread species is known for emerging from furniture and other wood in homes after as many as 40 years ( Linsley 1962b). It readily comes to sugar traps and is also attracted to lights.
