Gasteruption hansoni n. sp. ( Figs. 1f View FIGURE 1 , 11 View FIGURE 11 )

Gasteruption sp. E : Macedo, 2009: 7 (cladistic analysis).

Etymology. The epithet for this species is in honor of Dr. Paul E. Hanson, Universidad de Costa Rica.

Diagnosis. Differs from G. sartor by the mesonotum slightly truncate ( Fig. 11d View FIGURE 11 ); the mesoscutum with welldefined striae ( Fig. 11c View FIGURE 11 ); and the mesosoma mostly black. Differs from other Neotropical species by the ovipositor sheath mostly yellow brown, with the base dark brown, and longer than the metasoma.

Description. Female ( Fig. 11e View FIGURE 11 ). Length: 17.3 mm (15.8–19.1 mm) (n=9); ovipositor sheath length 1.00 (0.92– 1.03) × body length.

Head. Subtrapezoidal in dorsal view, wider than long ( Fig. 11a View FIGURE 11 ), punctulate (with fine irregular striae in vertex and frons in some specimens); mandible pre-apical tooth distinct; malar space short, almost separated from gena; posterior ocellus inserted at the level of upper eye margin; occipital carina narrow dorsally and laterally ( Fig. 11b View FIGURE 11 ). Head length 1.24 (1.19–1.28) × eye length; eye length 18.00 (15.00–25.67) × malar space; distance from posterior ocellus to occipital margin 1.58 (1.47–1.75) × distance between posterior ocelli; 1 st flagellomere 1.19 (1.12–1.27) × as long as scape, 1.66 (1.29–1.90) × as long as pedicel, 0.63 (0.48–0.71) × as long as 2 nd flagellomere. Color: black.

Mesosoma. Propleuron imbricate, with irregular striae; pronotal process distinct; pronotum ventral lobe rugulose, dorsal and posterior lobes imbricate, area between lobes with wide crenulate depression; mesonotum slightly truncate in lateral view ( Fig. 11d View FIGURE 11 ); mesoscutum striate ( Fig. 11c View FIGURE 11 ); mesoscutelum rugulose; mesepisternum imbricate dorsally and areolate ventrally; mesepimeron scrobiculate; metapleuron areolate, ventral region with a reduced smooth (or rugulose) portion; propodeum areolate, longitudinal carina indistinct; metacoxa finely striate. Mesosoma (excluding propleuron) 1.80 (1.66–1.88) × as long as high; propleuron 1.31 (1.21–1.43) × longer than its largest wide, 0.79 (0.73–0.86) × pronotum length; metacoxa 3.54 (3.30–3.72) × as long as wide; metatibia 5.11 (4.61– 5.59) × as long as wide, 1.43 (1.33–1.48) × as long as femur, 2.86 (2.61–2.96) × as long as 1 st tarsomere. Fore wing discal cell subtrapezoidal ( Fig. 1f View FIGURE 1 ); hind wing with 3 hamuli, not equidistant. Color: black; fore and middle legs with coxa black, trochanter, femur and tibia dark brown, tibia with a yellow longitudinal stripe, tarsus yellow, with apical tarsomeres gradually darker than basal ones; hind leg with coxa black to red brown, trochanter, femur and tibia dark brown, subbasal portion of tibia yellow, tarsomeres 1–4 yellow, 5 th yellow to dark brown.

Metasoma. Imbricate, 3.11 (2.99–3.32) × as long as mesosoma; subgenital sternun notched, Y-shaped; ovipositor sheath 1.49 (1.37–1.54) × as long as metasoma. Color: black; ovipositor sheath mostly yellow brown, with base black.

Male. Similar to female.
