Barberfish. To 20.7 cm (8.1 in) TL ( Nieto-Navarro et al. 2010). Islas San Benito and Isla de Cedros, central Baja California ( Ramírez-Valdez et al. 2015), and as far northward on mainland as Punta Abreojos (26°43’N, 113°31’W) (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California) to Pucusana, Peru ( Chirichigno and Vélez 1998), including Gulf of California and Islas Galápagos ( Grove and Lavenberg 1997). Depth: 0.9–50 m (3–164 ft) (min.: Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California; max.: Sánchez-Jiménez et al. 2018).
