Leucopis misaphida Rondani, 1848 View in CoL

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1848a: 440.

TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but presumably it is Parma (Italy) because he referred to observations made by himself but later (1875a: 267) added “ in colle ditionis parmensis [in Parmese hills]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype (one wing and one leg glued on a cardboard) ( MZUF: Box 35): Leucopis Mgn / misaphida Rnd. / 1822 / Holotypus Leucopis (Leucopis) misaphida Rnd. , det. G. Morge, Ex. 22 / Lectotypus ♂ Leucopis (Leucopis) misaphida Rondani, 1848 , A. Raspi det.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species ( Tanasijtshuk 1984: 228, Nartshuk et al. 1995: 7, Raspi & Benelli 2016: 215).

REMARKS: Rondani (1848a: 440) described Leucopis misaphida from a few specimens collected together with aphids on flowers of Bignonia radicans Linnaeus, 1753 . Günter Morge incorrectly labeled the MZUF male as the holotype, despite there being more than one specimen mentioned in the description. But, as far as we know, he never indicated this specimen as the holotype in any of his publications on Chamaemyiidae ( Morge 1959a, 1962a, 1962b) and therefore did not publish a lectotype designation (I.C.Z.N. 1999: Article 74.5). Raspi & Benelli (2016: 216) designated a lectotype (♂).
