Distribution in South America: Atlantic Ocean, French Guiana to Brazil, from 6ºN to 24ºS (Harbison et al. 1978; Oliveira & Migotto 2006; Oliveira et al. 2007).

Habitat: epipelagic species, found in coastal and oceanic tropical and suptropical waters (Harbison et al. 1978; Oliveira & Migotto 2006).
