Phlebotomus olmecus Vargas and Díaz-Nájera 1959, 147 (male, the female correspond to Bi. ylephiletor ). Type-locality: Mexico, Tabasco, Teapa.

Phlebotomus apicalis Lewis and Garnham 1959 View in CoL , 89 (male, female) (not Ph. apicalis Floch and Abonnenc View in CoL ). Type-locality: Belize.

Phlebotomus flaviscutellatus Mangabeira : Biagi et al. 1965, 267 (vector of Leishmania in Mexico); Biagi 1966, 370 (key).

Bichromomyia olmeca olmeca is a recognized vector of human cutaneous leishmaniasis in Mexico ( Biagi 1965). Ibáñez-Bernal (2002) reported this species from Veracruz, specifically from Coyolar and Emiliano Zapata (Municipality of Ixhuatlán del Sureste), and from Zapotal (Municipality of Minatitlán). We did not find this species in the collections taken during this work.
