Diagnosis. The new species is similar to M. robusta ( Wang, 2006) by having a similar sacculus in the male genitalia, but differs from the latter in the cone-shaped uncus not dilated apically, the valva lacking a process on the ventral margin, and the saccus pointed at apex. In M. robusta , the clavate uncus is dilated apically, the ventral margin of the valva is produced to a free process distally, and the saccus is rounded at apex ( Wang 2006: 20, Fig. 11 View FIGURES 9‒12 ).

Description. Adult ( Fig. 18 View FIGURES 13−18 ). Forewing length 5.5−7.5 mm.

Head with frons whitish yellow; vertex yellow, pale greyish brown medially. Labial palpus yellow, with dense blackish brown scales on outside of first segment; sencond segment with scattered black scales at base on outside, distal half with scattered blackish brown scales; third segment slightly shorter than second, marked with blackish brown scales medially. Antenna yellow; scape covered with black scales dorsally, flagellum ringed with blackish brown.

Thorax and tegula yellow, mixed with blackish brown scales basally. Forewing with costal margin slightly arched, apex rounded, termen obliquely truncate; whitish yellow to yellow, with scattered blackish brown scales; costal margin and dorsum with black spot at base respectively; median fascia black, from beyond middle of costal margin curved to tornus; discal and plical spots black, the former larger, discocellular spot black, merged with median fascia; black dots running from distal 1/3 of costal margin along termen to tornus, more and smaller along termen; fringe yellow, tinged with greyish black, black around tornus. Hindwing and fringe deep grey. Legs dominantly yellow; on ventral surface, foreleg blackish brown, tarsus with basal two tarsomeres yellow at apex, mid femur mixed with blackish brown, tibia and tarsus blackish brown except tibia yellow apically, tarsus with basal two tarsomeres yellow at apex, hind tibia mixed with sparse blackish brown scales, tarsus blackish brown, yellow at apex of each tarsomere.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 34 View FIGURES 29−34 ). Uncus cone-shaped, rounded apically, with a long seta at basal 1/3 laterally. Tegumen slightly widened medially, widest part about same length of uncus. Valva with basal 2/5 narrow, handle-shaped, distal 3/5 almost evenly wide to obtuse apex, bluntly angled at 2/5 on ventral margin; costa concave medially, reaching before end of valva terminally; transtilla expanded semicircularly, hooked dorsoapically, with densely long setae. Sacculus with basal half wide, distal half narrow, setose, rounded at apex. Saccus wide basally, tapered to pointed apex. Juxta slender, U-shaped. Aedeagus about half length of valva, median part uniformly widened, with strong wrinkles, with dense denticles dorsally, narrowed from basal 2/3 to narrowly rounded apex.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 42 View FIGURES 39−43 ). Papillae anales large, sub-quadrate, setose. Apophyses anteriores about half length of apophyses posteriores. Eighth sternal plate concave at middle in U shape and lined with long setae on postrior margin. Lamella antevaginalis ventrally wide, more than twice of width, slightly narrowed outward to rounded lateral margin, dorsally band-shaped. Antrum with sclerotized folds, spiculate. Ductus bursae short, without distinct boundary with corpus bursae, membranous; ductus seminalis arising from base of ductus bursae. Corpus bursae sub-rounded, longer than ductus bursae; signum elongate oval, bearing several teeth, apical one largest.

Distribution. China (Hainan).

Etymology. The specific epithet of the new species is derived from the Latin rugulosus, referring to the medially wrinkled aedeagus.
