ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1863: 3.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Americae meridionalis [ South America ]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype ( MZUN: Box Coll. entomol. extra-europea, Fam. Sirfidei - Gen. Aphritis a Phalacromya ): Phalacromya subcoerulea Rnd., Amer. mer. [= South America] / M. Zool. N° 11217 / ♂.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Copestylum subcoeruleum ( Thompson et al. 1976: 84) View in CoL .

REMARKS: Rondani (1863: 3) described Phalacromya subcoerulea from just the male sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material received from M. Spinola. Costa (1866: 31) listed a single MZUN specimen numbered “603”. We also found one syntype in this study.
