Type locality. Bay of Naples , Italy ( Lang 1884).

Distribution. Vietnam ( Dawydoff 1952); Canary Archipelago: La Gomera (De Vera et al. 2009) ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 , G2; Table 1 and 2).

Occurrence in the Canary Islands. Prostheceraeus giesbrechtii was observed at intertidal zone, during the year 2000.

Taxonomic remarks. Specimens from the Canary Islands show the characteristic colour pattern described by Lang (1884): longitudinal blue and white or cream bands, with a longitudinal yellow stripe in the midline.
