Diagnosis: Males of P. alligator are easily recognized by the massive MA and FC as well as by the shape of the RTA. Females are recognized by the shape of the dark delimitation of the posterior epigyne margin and the details of the internal structure.

Etymology: The species name is a noun in apposition and refers to the RTA outline resembling the profile of the head of an alligator.

Description: Male (holotype, MRAC 151630). Total l 5.40.

Carapace chestnut brown, covered by tiny warts forming a network with polygonal meshes. Carapace l: 2.65; w: 2.10. Fovea deep, clearly delimited. Sternum warted, l: 1.15; w: 1.30. Chelicerae, pleural bars, endites, labium, and chilum covered by fine warts. Abdomen greyish brown, with a large, brown do scutum covering 90% of do abdominal surface area.

Legs orange-brown, covered by fine warts.

Male palp ( Fig. 9A–C View Figure 9 ): RTA outline resembling the profile of the head of an alligator with long pointed inferior part; PTA simple, triangular. Embolus tiny, spine shaped, hidden by frontal excrescence of proximal part of tegulum. FC originating at base of embolus, curved out- and backward, encircling MA which is massive, almost reaching tip of cymbium, with membranous appendage at base. Proximal part of tegulum with frontal part triangular and rounded at extremity. PAPT broad, pointing outward. RAPT absent.

Female (paratype, MRAC 151782). Total l 6.65.

Carapace as in male, l: 2.55; w: 2.10. Sternum warted, l: 1.15; w: 1.30. Chelicerae, pleural bars, endites, labium, and chilum as in male. Abdomen greyish brown, without do scutum. Legs orangebrown, covered by fine warts.

Leg spination: fe: I pl 0-0-1-1-1 rlv 0-1-1-0-1; III do 0-0-1; IV do 0-1-1; ti: I ve 2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2; II ve 2-2- 2-2-2-2-2-2; IV pl 0-1-0 rl 0-1-0 plv 0-0-1; mt: I ve 2-2-2-2; II ve 2-2-2-2; III ve 0-2-0; IV pl 1-0-0 rl 1-0-0 ve 0-2-1.

Epigyne ( Figs 9D–F View Figure 9 , 38A View Figure 38 ): fairly simple with poorly defined broad plate with two small bulges near posterior margin; copulatory openings lateral, in front; short curved copulatory ducts lead to convoluted spermathecae; fertilization ducts strongly developed.

Known geographical distribution: Guinea, Liberia, Ivory Coast ( Fig. 18).
