Diagnosis. Species of medium size (holotype length: 5.7 mm), characterised by shortly ovoid elytra, distinct pterygia, small eyes and grey coloration.

Redescription (holotype). Body outline robust, not very elongate. Dorsal vestiture of grey scales with faint metallic shimmer, imbricate on elytra, elongate and progressively narrower on desmomeres, and of short dorsal setae, tear-shaped, appressed. Rostrum weakly transverse, sinuate at sides, these weakly convergent from temples to pterygia, epistome deeply and widely notched, epistomal keel present; pterygia distinct, not very although sharply projecting from lateral margins of rostrum; metarostrum with a fine median keel; prorostrum with a wide longitudinal fovea. Frons rather narrow, hardly wider than metarostrum, with a median fovea. Eyes rather small, rounded, not prominent beyond the genae. Antennae with scape robust, flattened in basal third, funicle robust, desmomere 1 not longer than 2, this a little shorter than 3+4, 3–7 progressively wider, apical ones not or scarcely transverse; club rather short and robust, first segment widely cup-shaped. Elytra ovoid, rather elongate, rounded at sides, weakly impressed at base, rather convex on dorsum, humeral calli more or less obsolete, striae with dense punctures evident in spite of vestiture, interstriae finely punctulate, almost flat. Tibiae robust, protibiae before apex rounded on outer margin, metatibiae with a series of teeth on innner margin. Aedeagus in dorsal view with cordiform outline before apex ( Fig. 18a); endophallic structures as in Fig. 18b. Female unknown.

Distribution. Iberian endemite: southern Spain (Andalusia) (type locality: Sierra de Jaén, Andalusia). Spanish literature records. Jaén: Sierra de Jaén (type loc.); Sierra de Cazorla: Valdillo (recte: Vadillo) de Castril (Roudier, 1958). Castellón: Segorbe (Torres-Sala, 1962). Mallorca ( Tenenbaum, 1915).

Material examined ( Fig. 71). Holotype, labelled: 1) Sierra de Jaén; 2) Kiesenwetterii n. sp.; 3) Type. Pter. [sic!] Kiesenwetterii Seidl.; 4) Pseudomeira kiesenwetteri (Seidl.) det. Pierotti e Bellò; 5) Zool. Staatsslg. München ( SEI).

Notes. The species is known only from the holotype, since we attribute the record from Sierra de Cazorla (Roudier, 1958) to a new species described below ( P. baetica ) and that from Segorbe ( Torres Sala, 1962) to a species belonging to the new genus Euplister , while the record for Mallorca ( Tenenbaum, 1915) is evidently based on a misidentification or mislabelling.
