( Figs. 13–15 View FIGURE 13 View FIGURE 14 View FIGURE 15 )

Description. FEMALE (holotype). Gnathosoma . Cheliceral base barely discernible, cheliceral shaft 180 long. Fixed cheliceral digit short and with spinous process. Palpal femur and genu with serrated dorsal seta each, 55 and 50 long, respectively. Subcapitular setae n 55 long. Each branch of peritremes with 29–30 chambers. Free lateral part of peritremal branch 40 long. Hypostome 170 long. Idiosoma 830 long and 1280 wide (965–1500 in 1 paratype). Dorsum ( Fig. 13 View FIGURE 13 A–B). Anterior-mid cluster with 68 mid-dorsal setae ( Fig. 13 View FIGURE 13 B), progressively elongated from anterior to posterior part of this cluster. Lateral to this cluster situated about 170–200 pairs of setae, 5–70 long. Among them 1 very long seta (120 long) present on each lateral margin. Serrated setae, 20–22 pairs, located anterior to each side of pseudoanal area. Lateral parts of idiosoma with slightly apically expanded setae. Peripheral series represented by 13 pairs of apically expanded setae. Venter ( Fig. 14 View FIGURE 14 A–B) with 12–18 pairs of plumose setae vm, 30–80 long, located anterior to genital area. Lateral parts covered with 39–40 pairs of setae, progressively elongated from ventral to lateral part of idiosoma, short setae (40–85 long)—plumose, long setae (130–260 long)—serrated at distal part. Peripheral series represented by 10–11 pairs of slightly serrated setae. Most part of genital slit situated ventrally. Genital series represented by slightly serrated setae g1 and 5 pairs of pseudoanal setae ps, setae ps1 situated dorsally, ps2–5 situated ventrally. Legs. Coxal setae 3a filiform. Leg chaetotaxy: genua I–IV (5-4-3-3), femora I–IV (5-4-3-3). All setae it’ and it” very slightly serrated.

Type material. Female holotype and 1 paratype were collected from Liolaemus chilensis (Lesson) ( Squamata : Liolaemidae ), CHILE: Río Ñuble, 36º52’37’’S, 72º05’17’’W, 5 November 2008, coll. D. González Acuña.

Type deposition. Holotype in the ZISP (ZISP T-Pt-8), paratype in the AMU (AMU-PTE5.1).

Etymology. The name chilensis refers to the Spanish name of the host “Legarto Chileno”.

Differential diagnosis. Pterygosoma chilensis sp. nov. is similar to Pterygosoma ligare sp. nov. In females of both species, setation of tibiae I–IV, genua and femora I, III–IV is the same, the gnatosoma is placed terminally, setae of the anterior-mid cluster are progressively elongated from the anterior to the posterior part of this cluster, the genital area is situated mainly ventrally, the pseudoanal series are represented by five pairs of setae ps. This new species differs from P. ligare by the following features: in females of P. chilensis the idiosoma is 830–965 long and 1280–1500 wide, the fixed cheliceral digit bears spinous process, there are 39–40 pairs of the postero-lateral setae on the ventral side, all setae it’ and it” on tarsi I–IV are serrated, setae v”FII are absent. In turn, the idiosoma of P. ligare is 655–745 long and 1115–1135 wide, the fixed cheliceral digit is reduced, only 19 pairs of ventrally inserted postero-lateral setae are present, setae it’ and it ” of tarsi I are smooth, setae v”FII are present.
