Herbs up to ca. 100 cm tall, stems branched along the plant, erect, woody, pubescent, non-glandular. Leaves opposite, petiolate, petioles 1–2 mm long, lanceolate to elliptic, 22–57 × 9–19.4 mm, margin doubly dentate to doubly serrate, 16–38 teeth each side, teeth ca. 1 mm long; apex acute, base truncate; papyraceous, glabrescent to pubescent, nonglandular. Inflorescence a raceme, erect, pedicels thin, s-shaped, 9–19.5 mm long. Bracts equal along inflorescence, pedicellate, pedicels 1.8–2.4 mm long; lanceolate, 22.3–41 × 7.9–20 mm, margin doubly dentate to doubly serrate, 10– 24 teeth per side, apex acute, base cuneate to rounded. Calyx campanulate without dots on the surface, 6.6–12 × 3.6–6 mm, lobes broadly triangular to ovate, 4.6–6.2 × 2.3–3.8 mm, margin entire, apex acute, pubescent, non-glandular. Corolla funnelform ventricose, 26–46 × 8–12 mm, upper lip 8.9–20 × 7.8–8.5 mm, lower lip 8.4–12 × 1.7–8 mm, lobes 2–3.2 mm × 2–3 mm; orange to red, shortly pubescent, non-glandular. Stamens exserted 4, filaments ca. 40 mm long, anthers 3.5–3.7 mm long. Style 28–34 mm long, stigma bilobed. Capsule ovoid, 11 × 9 mm long. Seeds not seen.

Etymology: —The name stenoglossa means “with a narrow tongue”.

Distribution and Ecology: —This species is distributed in Mexico and Guatemala. In Mexico, the species is recorded in the states of Chiapas, Guerrero, and Oaxaca ( Fig. 14E View FIGURE 14 ). Lamourouxia stenoglossa inhabits cloud forests (with Chiranthodendron pentadactylon Larréategui (1795: 37) , and Saurauia ), pine forests ( Pinus ayacahuite ), oak forests, pine and oak forests, and rarely tropical evergreen forests at elevations from 1750 to 3000 m.

Phenology: —Flowering and fruiting season occur from July to January.
