Calyptopogon View in CoL :

- Scutum dorsoventrally flattened in lateral view. This feature is nearly unique in Ceratopogonidae but is also present in many Stenoxenini where it has evolved independently.

Jenkinshelea :

- Male genitalia with ventral plate well-developed, broad, pale or light brown, appearing ‘wrinkled’ for at least basal 1/3, with or without very short basal arms directed anteriorly, these more medial and not abutting the gonocoxite ( Fig. 62B View FIGURE 62 ). The lateral margin of the ventral plate more broadly abuts the markedly elongate gonocoxite. This form of ventral plate is unique in the family.

- Female abdominal segment 8 large, strongly curved, with the base of sternite 8 swollen, curved near midlength posterodorsally at about a 45˚ angle at and then directed posteriorly. This feature is unique in at least Ceratopogonidae .
