Diagnosis. The forewing length is 16–18 mm in males and 17–18 mm in females. The new species differs from the related species by its somewhat wider forewing with a more oblique tornus. The forewing pattern of S. danieli is reminiscent of S. chekiangensis and the dark form of S. karenkonis due to the thin longitudinal postmedial streaks, but in the new species, the discal streaks are conspicuously longer and reaching the antemedial line, whereas those of S. chekiangensis and S. karenkonis are much shorter and forming an incision in the stripped postmedial area. The male genital capsule of S. danieli is most similar to S. chekiangensis but distinguished by the wider and less curved valva with a broader and trapezoid distal section (whereas it is narrower with an oblique ventral margin in S. chekiangensis ), the presence of a well-developed ampulla (it is reduced in S. chekiangensis ), and the markedly more elongate and apically pointed distal saccular process. The vesica of S. danieli is broader than in S. karenkonis , has a large lateral diverticulum (it is absent in S. chekiangensis ) and a weaker scobination in the subbasal diverticulum. The female genitalia of the new species differ from those of S. chekiangensis by the anteriorly wider ductus bursae and the conspicuously broader corpus bursae lacking scobination posteriorly.

Distribution. The new species is known from the Chinese provinces of Zhejiang ( Daniel 1951, as S. palmata ), Guangdong ( Dubatolov et al. 2012, as S. palmata ), Jiangxi and Hubei.

Etymology. The new species is named after Franz Daniel who first reported it for China as S. palmata .
