Type material: Holotype: ♀, China: Hainan: Wuzhishan mountainside (18º53.840', 109º41.514', alt. 1210 m), 8 April 2009, G. Tang ( IZCAS, Tang_No. 085).

Paratypes:, 2 ♀, same data as holotype ( IZCAS, Tang_No. 085) .

Etymology. The specific epithet is taken from the Latin adjective altus , and means high, referring to the high altitude at which these specimens were collected (1210 m).

Diagnosis. This new species is similar to T. sanmen (see Song et al. 1992: 88–89), but can be distinguished by the larg body size: 4.50–5.20 (3.57 in T. sanmen ), presence of a pair of black markings on opisthosomal dorsum (with many black stripes in T. sanmen ), and stout spermatheca (irregular shaped in T. sanmen ).

Description. Female (holotype measured): Total length 5.20. Prosoma 2.20 long, 2.40 wide; opisthosoma 3.10 long, 3.40 wide. Prosoma brown with small apophyses and short hairs. Eye measurements: AME 0.07; ALE 0.09 PME 0.06; PLE 0.08; AME–AME 0.54; AME–ALE 0.28; PME–PME 0.66; PME–PLE 0.42. MOA length 0.46 with front width 0.68 and back width 0.78. Chelicerae brown, with dense short spurs prolaterally, gnathocoxae, labium and sternum light brown. Legs yellow, the distal of femora grayish black. Leg formula: 4213; leg measurements: I: 3.10 (1.00, 1.20, 0.50, 0.40); II: 3.20 (1.00, 1.30, 0.50, 0.40); III: 3.00 (1.00, 1.20, 0.45, 0.35); IV: 3.35 (1.20, 1.30, 0.50, 0.35). Opisthosomal dorsum yellow, covered with dense short white hairs and a pair of black markings, venter grayish yellow.

Epigynum ( Figs 48 C–D, 49 A–B). Epigynum with hood situated posteriorly; copulatory openings invisible; spermathecae stout.

Male: Unknown.

Distribution. China (Hainan). Only known from the type locality.

Variation. TL 4.50, 4.70, 5.20 (n=3).
